Page 4 Using a Mold for PMC3

Mold with dried pmc3. Ready to fire. You could add the bale now. You can buy fine silver bales which can be added and fired. (YOU CAN NOT FIRE STERLING SILVER WITH FINE SILVER WITHOUT FIRST ANNEALING THE STERLING. THERE IS A DIFFERENT SETUP FOR STERLING OR USING STERLING COMPONENTS.)

Brass plate to add texture. I use these on the backs of pendants and just press it on after I put the clay in the mold. Put release agent on the plate so the clay does not adhere to the plate.
Save your filings and sandings in a little container that is air tight. First, ground the shavings to a powder. Then start adding water a drop or 2 at a time a while stirring. The consistency will depend on the amount of water. It does not take that much water, so add only a drop at a time until you have a nice creamy slurry. I use a paint brush to add volume or fix mistakes. If you add too much water let it sit with the lid off and it will start to dry out. When you have a nice paste keep the lid on and it will stay that way for a long time.
